This real estate map from 1914 advertises land for sale at the Chelmer Railway Station Estate in the Brisbane suburb of Chelmer. The allotments were situated along Oxley Road, Appel Street, Plumridge Street, Crawford Street (now Crawford Road), Chelmer Road (now Chelmer Street East).

Extensive publicity for the Greenwood Estate was published in Brisbane newspapers prior to the sale on 3 June 1914.
“114 choice residential allotments. Marked plans showing exceptionally low prices, £15 to £25 each. Allotments at Chelmer have sold up to 80. Now is the chance to secure a choice building site. This is the last of the large estates in this popular suburb…All level allotments. Good soil. Over 40 passenger trains to and from Chelmer daily, cheap fares” (The Telegraph, 2 June 1914, p.12)

The results of the opening day sale was reported in the Brisbane Courier –
“Messrs Chandler and Russell report the sale of 65 allotments in the Chelmer Railway Station Estate on King’s Birthday. The balance of the allotments are for sale, and, as advertised, the agents will meet intending buyers on the ground next Saturday at 3 p.m.” (Brisbane Courier, 6 June 1914, p.7)

From the 1960s to the 1970s, Frank and Eunice Corley drove the suburban streets of Queensland in their pink Cadillac, taking photographs of houses and selling them to homeowners.
