Andrew Craig, a former naval officer and helicopter pilot, served with the Royal Australian Navy from 1958-1988, retiring with the rank of Captain.
His service included time at sea on HMAS Vendetta during the Indonesian Confrontation, deployment to Vietnam with 9 Squadron, RAAF, RAN Helicopter Flight Vietnam, and command of 817 Naval Air Squadron.

In more recent times he served as Chair on the Queensland Advisory Committee for the Commemoration of the Anzac Centenary (QACCAC) of World War I, 2014-2018.
QACCAC facilitated the QANZAC100: Memories for a New Generation program a joint initiative between the Queensland Government, the Anzac Centenery Public Fund and the State Library of Queensland.

Captain Craig kept a personal archive of photographs, pilots’ log book and papers which reveals the story of his own service as a naval officer and pilot, including his time as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.
This archive has now been digitised and preserved by the State Library and is available online via the libary’s catalogue.
Selected items from the archive have also been included in the new digital installation at the state’s war memorial, Anzac Square in Brisbane, due to open mid 2019.
