You are correct! Applications and nominations for State Library’s 2016 Queensland Memory Awards and Fellowships is NOW OPEN.
Queensland Memory Awards are now open for 2016.
For the first time in several years and as part of the Queensland Memory Awards, the John Oxley Library Award, and John Oxley Library Community History Award, are open for nominations.
If you are familiar with an individual or know an organisation who is passionate about Queensland’s cultural heritage, and is demonstrating heritage excellence and innovation, please nominate them for the John Oxley Library Award or the John Oxley Library Community History Award.
Both John Oxley Library Awards advocate and promote the rich history of Queensland’s diverse communities, and seek to encourage the communication of Queensland’s history and stories. The promotion of these stories may take the form of a print or online publication, exhibition, website, blog, multimedia presentation, heritage walk or tour.
Are you ready to nominate an outstanding project or individual?
If you do know just the person in your community or the heritage organisation whose work of excellence is contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage in your community, nominate them.

Each Award is gifted by the Library Board of Queensland and the Queensland Library Foundation and the winners will be announced at the Queensland Memory Awards gala evening, State Library of Queensland, 9 June, 2016, during Queensland Week.

Past recipients of the John Oxley Library Community History Award include:-
2015 – Ration Shed Museum, Cherbourg – actively collecting local history since opening in 2009 and working with Queensland Memory, State Library of Queensland on several projects to promote their local history – exhibitions onsite and online and participating in the Indigenous Language program. To complement the museum’s physical presence, the organisation has launched the online Cherbourg Memory project. This website is an initiative of the museum to bring together the photos, videos, oral history recordings, documents and other artefacts from the lives in the Cherbourg community.
Ration Shed Museum, Cherbourg receives the 2015 John Oxley Library Community History Award.
2014 – Adopt a Digger – an outstanding example of a voluntary community project commemorating the men and women from the Sunshine Coast region who served during the First World War. First launched in 2010, the aim of the project was to create an extensive database documenting the 2000+ soldiers and nurse from the region.

2013 – Brisbane Open House – encouraging Queensland’s residents and tourists to engage actively with Brisbane’s history through architecture.
